Associate Newsletter Editor
The Phoenix Chapter's award-winning newsletter, Rough Draft, is seeking someone to help (on an ongoing basis) with developing leads and ideas for newsletter articles on technical communication topics, researching material for articles, and recruiting authors for newsletter articles. If you'd also like to try your hand at writing your own articles, so much the better! This is a great opportunity to join our team and gain some resume-worthy experience.
Education
Committee Members
Assist
the Education Committee Manager in planning and conducting educational programs and seminars. The chapter typically provides these Saturday workshops at a reasonable or inexpensive fee for STC members. (We attempt to break even or make a small profit on each workshop.) Specific duties may include investigating topics
and workshop leaders, finding a location, promoting the workshop via
Rough Draft articles and mailings to newspapers, making arrangements for food or catering, and/or other planning and implementation activities assigned by the Education Manager.
Hospitality Committee Members
Meet
and greet members and guests at monthly meetings and other events.
Act as “host” for guests or new members by sitting with them
at events, introducing them to other people, etc.
(Acting as a “conversation catalyst”!) Staff the
registration table. Create name tags for events. This requires
little to no time commitment outside of the monthly meeting times.
Membership
Committee Members
Assist the chapter Membership Manager in maintaining a database of
current and prospective members. Create and mail information
packets to prospective members. Contact prospective and
non-returning members for follow-ups. Assist with corporate
outreach efforts. Perform other duties as assigned by the Membership
Manager.
Newsletter Editors or Contributors
Our award-winning newsletter needs You! We are always seeking technical communicators who are willing to write articles for the Phoenix Chapter's
Rough Draft newsletter. Articles can be serious, funny, technical, or personal, but must be related to technical communication. If you have items that may be of interest to other members, this is your opportunity to gain exposure and become a published author!
Volunteer Committee Member
Help identify new volunteer opportunities and communicate them to members. Assist in collecting volunteer data (who, what, when, etc.) and input into database. Time commitment unknown but could vary from 2 hours per month and up.
